Established in 1954, the American Solar Energy Society is the nation’s leading association of solar professionals and advocates. Together with our members we’re building a solar-powered, energy efficient nation. But, we can’t do it without solar supporters like you. Will you JOIN US ?
This year's tour has a new addition, gardens! Come and celebrate sustainability in the cool pines of Flagstaff by touring local residences, organizations, schools, and gardens that practice green design.
Sustainable design stretches outside the built environment, that is why this year's tour is showcasing some of the most successful community and school gardens in Northern Arizona.
Most tour locations implement water conservation, solar power, rainwater collection, Xeriscaping, composting, passive solar design, and others. Locations will have either the homeowner/builder and/or an expert to educate and answer your questions. Last year's event had over 200 participants!
The tour is self guided and starts at Willow Bend Environmental Education Center. There, you will receive a tour packet with all addresses, maps and information on each location. The tour is easily walkable and bikable. The tour is free but there is a $5 suggested donation to go towards Willow Bend.
We look forward to making this year's event a success!
