Columbia Gorge Earth Center is hosting the Green Living Tour on October 1 from 10 am - 4 pm, the same day as the Hood River Hops Fest. In addition to a variety of new and remodeled homes with solar, deep energy efficiency retrofits, and other green building features, the tour will highlight homes that incorporate green "lifestyle" aspects like backyard bees and chickens, water catchment systems, grey-water systems, and stellar home gardens. The Green Living Tour will also present several workshops from 9:00 am - noon.
The goal of the Green Living Tour is to offer opportunities for learning how to incorporate sustainable living practices into everyday living by providing resources, ideas and inspiration. Homes will include: a net-zero home, various examples of solar systems, a passive house, small homes including a Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), a 740 square foot straw-bale home, an off-grid home in Mosier, and others. A Bike & Walk tour of 3 -4 exemplary green homes in Hood River will be a part of this year’s tour - so bring your bike. And when you’re done, head to Hops Fest!
