2010 Lawrence Sustainable Homes Tour The Lawrence Sustainable Homes Tour will occur on Saturday, September 11th in conjunction with the Lawrence Energy Conservation Fair. As a part of the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour, the primary purpose of this tour is education. The focus is energy-saving techniques and sustainability through building design, efficient appliances, and use of green materials during remodeling. Tour will include up to eight buildings which contain a combination of solar electric, passive solar design, solar hot water, geothermal, straw bale construction and more. The Lawrence tour provides helpful, real-world examples of cutting energy costs and how to save money with federal, state, and local incentives. Tickets for the bus tour of local energy efficient homes and businesses will be available for purchase ($10/adult; $3/child under 14) on a first come, first served basis, beginning at 10:00 am at the Community Building. The bus will depart from the Community Building promptly at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.
