I have hosted 2 Earth Day Solar Powered Open House Tour events in the past two years. They were well recieved. My house features a 3.1 kwh solar array, solar thermal water heating system, geothermal hvac, and a metal roof made from 100% recycled steel. The solar array and solar water heating are ground mounted systems so guest can get an up close and hands on experience. They will also see the day to day practices of recycling and conservation. They are amazed by the simplicity of rganic gardening, lawn care and edible landscaping. Composting is another big subject that is discussed. Which leads to reducing, reswuing and recycling. We share ideas and tricks of the recycling trade. During the tour, I also privide the guests with the facts and figures, about how much each item has costed me and what I save. The dollars are a very important factor for many people.
