This house features post and beam framework with straw bale construction. Solar thermal heating feeds radiant floor systems on both stories of the home.
The home also utilizes passive solar heating due to the position of the house and the roof overhangs. Polyurethane insulation in the roof adds to the efficiency. Energy Star appliances and a cistern for rainwater collection add to the sustainability of the home.
