About this local solar tour

The Solar Workgroup is excited to present its first solar tour of Southwest Virginia! The tour will start at Mountain Empire Community College's Home Craft Days, and will continue as a group to each solar site. The tour is free and open to any who wish to join.

During this tour, the Workgroup will be traveling across the county to show off solar energy installations in the coal-impacted communities of Appalachia. Come along and hear the region’s solar story and learn if solar energy is right for you.

What is a local solar tour?

A local solar tour is a group of multiple solar open house events being organized together in a particular community or area. Some local tours may be guided or require a ticket to attend, while others are self-guided and free. Local tours can be organized by non-profit organizations, individual volunteers, and solar installation companies.

This event is free and open to the public - everyone is welcome to attend. Whether you are a solar owner, completely new to solar, or somewhere in between – this event is for you.
