Capitol Hill Green Home

October 2 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm UTC-4

Solar panels on roof produce more power than the house consumes. Installation of this system led me into a two successful two-year campaign to double the limit on rooftop solar in DC. Deciduous trees on the western side provide some shade in summer, but allow the sun through in winter. Rain garden in back receives most rain landing on the house. Beautiful interior emphasizes use of bamboo. Ceiling fans and low-e coatings on windows reduce the need for active cooling.
