Two Self-Powered Buildings: Home & Office

October 8, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm - October 8, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm

The two buildings are entirely self-powered, and the new Nissan Leaf SL is also entirely powered by PV on my home’s roof. The rear office building has solar-electric (photovoltaics) roofing shingles, small wind turbine, hydrogen PEM fuel cell, all tied to a web-enabled battery bank, solar daylighting tube, along with R50 insulation and super-insulating windows among other applications.

The house has solar water heating, direct exchange geothermal heat pump, large multi-type module PV system, huge 16 AGM battery bank, along with electrochromic glass, R-35 insulation, thermal barrier coating, and double-pane, argon-filled, windows. The buildings are connected by the see-through awning with nanotechnology PV which powers area WIFI and LED lighting at night. And PV was added to the house roof to entirely power the 2022 Nissan Leaf SL.

The property features four drop-and-generate solar emergency preparedness systems, plus other clean technologies, and a demo van that goes to area colleges whose solar and wind system upon the roof charges an advanced battery bank to power a DVD player and large side-mounted all weather video screen.
