About this open house

Travois is happy to join the National Solar Tour with an open house in conjunction with our October 4, First Friday artist exhibit, featuring North American Indigenous artist, Mona Cliff, (travois.com/news-events/first-fridays).

Our 330 panel, 75-kilowatt system is supported on a steel structure above our rooftop deck. The system was installed in 2012 and shortly after the roof top deck and play area was built below. The deck features an incredible view of downtown Kansas City and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts just past a community garden space. Travois uses the rooftop for alternate outdoor office workspace, social gatherings, place to have lunch, yoga, and as a place for the children in the daycare group to play.

We are happy to feature Homoly Construction, SunSource, MRIGlobal, Sierra Club, Battery Tour, and Westside Housing in our brief program

October 4 First Friday's schedule-

Entry-
Enter on the north side of the building, along 19th Street, see image in slideshow for map.

Please note, there is not an accessible access to the roof top deck for the tour, only access is by stairway. For accessible entry to the Travois office use the 19th Terrace parking lot side. Panels can be seen from three sides at exterior of building.

Our solar system was installed by Solar and Wind KC in 2012.

What is a solar open house?

See solar panels up close, ask questions about how solar works, learn about why people in your community made the choice to go solar, and connect with other people in your community who support solar energy.

This event is free and open to the public - everyone is welcome to attend. Whether you are a solar owner, completely new to solar, or somewhere in between – this event is for you. Stop by for a few or stay for a while!
