About this open house
The focus of our sustainability efforts has been landscaping our suburban yard with native plants and wildlife habitat. We manage all rainwater on site including use of rain barrels and have received certification from National Wildlife Federation, Audubon at Home and MonarchWatch in addition to being featured on the Fairfax County Watershed Friendly Garden Tour. Kim is a naturalist with the Fairfax County Park Authority and she and George have planted over 100 species of native plants, with a focus on deer resistance. We monitor for bluebirds both on our property and at a local park bluebird trail. The purchase of an electric car and installation of solar panels was a natural progression in our sustainability efforts. Light refreshments and handouts will be available and we are happy to provide a garden tour and answer any questions.
Our solar system was installed by Ipsun Solar.
What is a solar open house?
See solar panels up close, ask questions about how solar works, learn about why people in your community made the choice to go solar, and connect with other people in your community who support solar energy.
This event is free and open to the public - everyone is welcome to attend. Whether you are a solar owner, completely new to solar, or somewhere in between – this event is for you. Stop by for a few or stay for a while!
