Baltimore City Public Schools Solar Site

Baltimore City Public Schools has two new schools in South East Baltimore, Graceland Park/O’Donnell Heights Elementary/Middle School and Holabird Elementary/Middle School. The schools are Net Zero Energy (NZE), the first net-zero schools in the entire state of MD. Each year, rooftop solar panels generate electricity equal to the amount the schools will use saving money in electricity bills each year. Architecture design: Grimm + Parker. PV Array Types: Total array: 512 kW DC; 409.5 kW AC (1.25 DC to AC adjustment factor) Roof Top Array – East-West Array on ballasted racks by PanelClaw – 1300 Modules (JA Solar JAM72D09 385/BP) grouped in 10 arrays with 5 degree tilt (33,600 sf of array) = 502 kW, 385 W Solar Lab Adjustable Tilt Racks – 3 Modules on Racks, 1.0 kWDC (for student project based learning) Solar Tracker Dual Axis Tracker – 6 Modules, 2.0 1kWDC (for student project based learning) Entry Canopy Microinverter Translucent PV Array – 24 Modules, 6.96 kWDC (for student visibility, look up through canopy each morning as walking into school)
