Burlington Net Zero Bungalow
My fiancé Katarina and I moved to St Pete almost a year ago and purchased a home in the Historic Kenwood Neighborhood. We have been diligently transforming the home to be net-zero energy and using sustainable materials where practical since then. The last 4 Duke Energy bills have been the minimum bill of $35 and we capped the gas line so no TECO bills at all! Here’s the shortlist of what we did:
— Removed old attic insulation and ran blower door tests thanks to the Attic Queen
— Spray foam insulation in the attic and crawlspace from On the Mark Spray Foam
— High efficiency Energy Star and impact windows.
— All new ductwork and a Daikin heat pump for space conditioning by Smart Heating & Cooling
— Replaced the old pool pump with a variable speed pump from Pentair.
— Replaced the gas water heater with a Rheem heat pump water heater from West Bay Energy.
=- Installed an 8.2kW Rooftop PV system to power it all from West Bay Energy.
— Built raised garden beds and installed 1000 gal rainwater catchment system
Come check out all of these features and learn about the economics of it all. We’ll have many of the vendors we used on site for you to speak with throughout the day as well as displays, videos, and a slide show. We’re also the host of the local tour, so we’ll have maps available and easy parking to start your walking tour of the nearby solar and green homes. Refreshments will be served!
