Caldwell Sewage Treatment Plant Solar Site

October 1 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm - January 15, 2023 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

ASP developed, designed, and built this project under PSE&G’s Solar-4-All Grid Security Pilot Program. The project consists of a ground mount PV system and a EOS/Siemens Energy Storage System. The PV system provides power to the DPW directly to the PSE&G grid under normal operating conditions. During a power outage, both the PV and Energy Storage System, in addition to the facility generator, provide power to critical loads in the sewage treatment plant. The objective is to reduce diesel consumption by the generator in times of prolonged power outage and therefore increase the duration autonomy without grid power, and to provide shorter duration emergency power if there is a generator fault

The battery energy storage system features an advanced battery system using a novel battery chemistry developed by EOS, a New Jersey technology company. The technology features enhanced safety, lower cost, and use of abundant, sustainable materials. The PV array featured side-by-side testing of bifacial vs. monofacial modules.
