Capital High School Solar Site
October 2 - October 3
Our first incentive to go solar was to create consistent utility savings in our ever insufficient operational budget. It was also clear to Santa Fe Public Schools that producing clean, renewable energy on school sites would not only reduce the carbon footprint of the district, it would serve as a teaching tool for our students and as models for the community. We now have 13 buildings with solar and our focus on energy and water efficiency and conservation over the last eight years has allowed us to consistently decrease our utility budget expenditures, direct more funding to programs, staff, and students, and reduce our environmental footprint.
