Furman University Solar Site
October 2 - October 3
Furman University was one of the first schools to sign the American Colleges and University’s President’s Climate Commitment in 2007. We developed a Climate Action Plan and committed to becoming carbon neutral. Since then, we’ve been working hard to meet that goal, reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by almost 40%. Most of our solar projects relied on grant funding to offset the cost of installation and continue to save the university money on its electric bill every year. Combined with energy efficiency upgrades and conservation measures, adding renewable energy is a critical part of reducing our climate impact and meeting our sustainability goals.
