Hemlock Haven – Passive Solar – Sun Plans

This modified Hemlock Haven home design by architect Debbie Coleman with Sun Plans has over 2000 s.f. with approximately 2/3 on the main floor and another third on the second floor. A central atrium brings light into the center of the home. A local architect modified the CAD files purchased from Sun Plans with such changes as reversing the home and attaching a garage on the northeast corner. The front of the home faces west with the sunroom space on the southeast corner. The south glass is approximately 9% of the floor area. Thermal mass is primarily in the slab on grade floors of the first floor. They said that they’d miss the sunroom the most in this home. “It’s just the coziest, most lovely place.”
