Kathy’s House – A Hospital Guest House

Kathy’s House opened it’s new, larger building in 2021 and is the first building on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center (MRMC) campus to feature solar panels. The panels will produce 100,000 kilowatts in a typical year, providing 40% of projected electricity needs. The building uses MRMC’s large central chilller plant for its air conditioning system, reducing electric energy consumption by 50% and an energy recovery dedicated outdoor air unit which preheats all the fresh air delivered to the spaces with exhaust air, providing up to 50% more savings compared to untreated outdoor systems. The building also includes furnishings and fixtures made out of the reclaimed wood from some of the removed oak trees on the property. These include benches (indoor and outdoor), fireplace mantels, circular coffee table, donor wall and interior room signs. Kathy’s House is conveniently located off of I-94 and I-41.
