Hybrid Hybrid Event
ASES National Solar Tour

A little about the National Solar Tour. It helps to spread solar contagion, where homes, businesses, schools, and other organizations across the country open their doors, yards and roofs to neighbors who are looking to learn more about how they can utilize renewable energy and sustainability in their lives. It is about neighbors talking to each other about solar, energy efficiency, other sustainable upgrades, financing, recommendations on installers, local laws or issues. The event is completely free! Our goal of the project is to help others go solar!

The great thing about the National Solar Tour is that it is very flexible to the homeowners on what they want to do. This year the platform hosts in-person, virtual, and hybrid Solar Sites.

For in-person events, it is like hosting an open house, the host gives tours of the energy efficient, solar and sustainable features of the Solar Site to those interested in going Solar. With covid, this can be to the owners comfort level, they can require masks, have it be outside only, allow only vaccinated attendees to come inside the building, etc. Make sure to state your guidelines in the description of the Solar Site they state their preferences, and if this were to change as the event gets closer, we can change the description so nothing has to be set in stone. Hosts get to choose the day(s) and hours of their event so it works within their schedule.

For virtual events, homeowners can choose to showcase their home through a photo or video tour. For photos we ask for around 5-10 photos that showcase the features of the home and for a video tour, a short, 3-5 minute video that again, highlights the features of the home.

The National Solar Tour team has put together a page of resources to help you plan your Solar Site.

From here you can choose whether to host your Solar Site in-person, virtually or as a hybrid event. If virtual, you will create the photo or video tour. Once that is complete, you can sign up your Solar Site by filling out the “Solar Site as part of a Local Solar Tour” form. You will be prompted to choose the Local Solar Tour you are a part of, please select “Northern Colorado Solar Tour.” Deadline to sign up is August 15.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing your Solar Site!
