Rose Solar Site
October 2 - October 3
I planned and coordinated the installation of the solar panels. I feel they are a great way to teach students about solar energy and teach Content Standards and Objectives we are responsible for in WV. The solar panels will keep cranking out energy and will be the subject for lessons for students into the future. An 11,500 dollar grant funded installation of two, six-panel solar arrays at Greenbrier East High School in September 2018. The Technology Model School grant was funded by the WV Department of Education. Each array can be independently tilted in one plane. Electricity enters the grid at a net-meter and reduces the school electric bill. Students are comparing electricity production for one array at a fixed angle to one that is moved about every two weeks to match sun angle as Earth declination changes. Students are also evaluating economic return on investment for the arrays.
