I got solar panels, because I do not like what is happening to our natural world. Since August 2015, my small 1941 cinderblock house has had 18 solar panels . Five more were added in October 2019. Two Tesla batteries were added in August 2019. Since then, the batteries have filled in more than 75 grid outages for over 8 hours total. Since 2016, the average FPL bill has been $11.74. This includes about 12 months when the panels were not connected. Currently, the monthly bill is $9.98. So far, one fun fact about having batteries is that I never know when an outage occurs. One realistic fact is that I don’t have to own, maintain, and get gasoline for a generator. My system has saved over 65,829 pounds of CO2.
