University of Illinois at Chicago
October 2, 2021 - January 15, 2022
The 469 solar panels that sit atop Lincoln and Douglass Halls help power the operations of each building at the University of Illinois Chicago. As an urban university with a complex energy landscape, these solar panels are part of a larger strategy to transition UIC to a completely carbon neutral campus. In addition to this solar array, UIC also hosts a geothermal well field, supports an energy conservation measure committee that retrofits buildings across campus, and pledges that all new constructions on campus are built to be LEED-Gold certified.
