We are pleased to be able to use the free energy from the sun to produce electric for our house and yard tools and fuel for our cars.
We had a 10.15 kW solar array installed on our roof in 2016 with a plan to replace our aging two ICE vehicles with EVs. We purchased a 2014 Nissan LEAF in 2017 and a 2014 Chevy Volt in 2018. Then we built an EV charging station for safer and more efficient charging.
All our yard tools are electric or cordless. We repurpose all our food and yard waste back to our property through mulching and composting. Our household of two minimizes waste by putting our 35-gallon trash can at the curb for pickup. only two times a year. We accomplish this vast reduction by following the 4 R’s & 2 C’s: Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle, Compost & Compact.
