Byrd Residence with Solar Gazebo

Solar panels are mounted on the south-facing part of the roof, plus eight panels that make up the roof of a gazebo in the back yard and four panels on a ground mount. It is a grid-tied system using an SMA Sunny Boy 7.6 kW inverter and was a DIY installation The panels on the gazebo and the ground mount are installed to be rain-tight, so they serve as roofing to protect the wood-frame structures.

We have produced all the electricity we have used since February of 2017, including electricity used by our Nissan Leaf, acquired later in 2017.
