The City of Cape Canaveral, Florida is quickly moving into the solar future. In the last two years, the City has commissioned two rooftop solar arrays set atop two different municipal facilities – the first two of their kind in the City’s history. On this tour, you will be visiting the City’s new Community Center (pictured here), a 24,000-square-foot facility that hosts a 48-kilowatt system – and the Cultural, Arts, Preservation, and Enrichment (CAPE) Center, which has a 25-kilowatt system. Together, these two systems are saving the City thousands of dollars annually in energy costs, and abating thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. The tour will first begin at the City of Cape Canaveral Community Center (C5), which is located at 7920 Orange Ave., Cape Canaveral, FL 32920. From here, the tour will move on to the nearby CAPE Center, located at 105 Polk Ave., Cape Canaveral, FL 32920. Parking at both buildings is free, and both contain restrooms and water fountains. The tour will last about an hour at each location.
