Helios Net Zero Energy Solar Home

Originally built in 1984 as a passive solar home, we’ve added more features over the years so Helios in now a Net Zero Energy home. A solar hot water system was added in 1998, rooftop solar panels in 2009 and 2012, 5 heat pumps replaced the originial heating system. We’ve been driving EV’s since 2012 and havea 240 volt charger in the garage. System performance and the home’s energy use is monitored with an eGauge device. To supplement the onsite solar energy we purchased solar panels in a local community solar system so the total 12 kW solar offsets all of our electric needs.
