Net Zero Victorian

October 1 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm - January 15, 2023 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Our “Net Zero Victorian” is a total gut rehab of a 1904 Minneaapolis house. Our intent was to show that an ordinary house on an ordinary lot in a chilly northern city could be rendered net zero. The house is certified LEED Platinum and Zero Energy (by the International Living Futures Institute), and over five years, has registered in net positive in its generation and use of electricity. The house draws upon four geothermal wells for heating and cooling. It is super-insulated, and uses only about $500 of electricity per year for heating and cooling–while producing much more than that via its 54 solar panels. At the same time, the house has been rebuilt to be attractive and comfortable inside, as visitors will see during the virtual tour
