Plumas Charter School embraced solar energy with the collaborative support of RE-volv and GRID Alternatives. Through a Power Purchase Agreement facilitated by RE-volv, Plumas Charter School secured financing for their solar project. With a $0 upfront cost, the school opted for a 20-year solar lease. As the school repays RE-volv for the solar system, the corresponding payments contribute to RE-volv’s Solar Seed Fund, a forward-paying initiative dedicated to extending solar benefits to additional nonprofit organizations.
GRID Alternatives, the largest nonprofit installer of clean energy technologies in the nation, played a crucial role in making this project a reality. They will be responsible for installing the solar system, involving participants from their Workforce Development Program. These trainees will gain valuable hands-on experience during the installation, laying the foundation for their future careers in the solar industry.
This year, Plumas Charter School hosted education sessions for students in fourth through twelfth-grade to learn about the benefits of solar energy and the installation process.
