We’re most of the way through our electrification projects! The only pending items are the water heater and stove. Here are the projects we’ve completed since we moved here in early 2020, and that you can check out in person:
* Heat pump: replaced gas furnace and air conditioner (Daikin FIT 3 ton)
* Clothes dryer: the house had gas piping to the laundry area, but we already had a 240V electric resistance dryer. So we ran a 240V electrical circuit to the laundry area.
* EV charging: we installed a 240V NEMA 14-50 receptacle in the garage which is at the rear of the lot, and a second one at the front of the house for visitors, AirBnB guests, and when we park out there ourselves.
* Solar and battery: 12 kW rooftop PV with one Tesla Powerwall Gen 2 (13 kWh).
* Upgraded main electrical panel: we have a duplex with two meters. The existing service was 150 amps combined, with 100A for the main house and 50A for the apartment. We installed a dual meter main with 200 amps to each unit. We also upgraded two subpanels.
* Prewiring: while we had an interior wall opened up for the subpanel upgrade, we pre-wired two 240V circuits to the location of the cooking range and the water heater, so those future installations will be much easier.
* Monitoring: we use Sense to monitor the whole house, and Tesla app to monitor the solar and battery and to control battery discharge timing for the maximum export rate to Southern California Edison.
