The American Solar Energy Society‘s 28th Annual National Solar Tour aims to promote renewable energy awareness and increase the adoption of sustainable living practices. Are you interested in going solar or purchasing a sustainable system? Join in-person or virtual tours to gain insight from current owners!
Although the main weekend is October 6-8, 2023. In-person and virtual tours are happening all throughout the year.

(Past Tour) Residential Solar+ Home
Located near Silver Springs Park in Stow, OH our home is one of 3 residential solar systems on our street, and the only one visible from the front. Originally installed in 2017 to match our home (“West system”), and integral to the rooftop system is charging of our two PHEVs, a 1998 Prius Prime and a 2023 Ford Escape (“Main system”).
We will not be going inside the home, but will have a table set up with photos. One PHEV will be present, as will an induction single-unit plug-in cooktop that has mainly replaced our gas cooktop. The 220V EV charger can also be seen in the garage.
Our home is highly efficient, with AC, gas furnace, 2-zone HVAC, tankless gas water heater, and hybrid spray/fiberglass insulation.
Finally, the solar system, even with EV charging, has delivered us 10 of the last 12 months with no electric bill!
