Solar Geothermal

Although we are not net zero, we are close because we have eliminated all of our natural gas consumption and most of our electricity consumption through a combined installation of geothermal heating & cooling and a solar array. The solar array is ground mounted, serving as a sun shade for our patio. The array is outfitted with bifacial panels which capture more power, aid in winter snow shedding, and improve the architectural aesthetics. The array is high off the ground (14 feet), which allows a garden to grow beneath. The array also tilts manually to follow the changing seasonal angle of the sun. The greater winter tilt also facilitates snow shedding. We also have passive solar in our solarium, where we grow lemons and figs.
